The presence of a highly aware and organized constituency is critical in protecting and fulfilling human rights, and giving flesh to people’s participation and deepening democracy. We shall contribute to the protection of human rights and participatory governance by doing what we do best – education, awareness and capacity-building programs that target civil society organizations and local government officials, in general, and women’s organizations and women local government officials, in particular.
The following are the current projects under this program:
- Political and Governance Learning Sessions: Part of IPG’s program is providing venues for local officials to learn and network with experts and representatives of national government agencies to help them in their local governance work on various themes. Most recent learning sessions conducted by IPG were discussions/ conferences on the following topics — federalism, health governance, fiscal management, local economic development and policy conferences for local legislators.
